Description:
SEIU Local 5 is seeking a campaign researcher based out of Houston or San Antonio to work with campaigns in the Dallas, Houston, Mc Allen and San Antonio areas. SEIU is the nation's fastest growing labor organization, with more than 2 million members. SEIU is on the cutting edge of progressive activism, building the power of workers and engaging in larger social issues such as health care, housing, and immigration. SEIU Texas is the fastest-growing union in Texas and represents over 30,000 workers.
The successful applicant will work with energetic teams of organizers working on a number of campaigns in Texas. The campaign researcher will work with research, organizing, political and communications staff to develop and implement corporate, legal, legislative, and regulatory strategies to advance organizing and bargaining campaigns for public and health care workers.
SEIU (Service Employees International Union) Local 5 is the fastest-growing union in Texas and represents over 30,000 workers statewide.

•Strong commitment to progressive social change
•Ability to utilize information from and about workers, public and private sector employers, and economic/financial research on governments, companies and industries to inform and develop campaign strategies
•Strong research and quantitative skills
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and a variety of computer-based research tools
•Excellent oral and written communications skills
•Familiarity with basics of corporate and government financial analysis and accounting
•Ability to work well under tight deadlines and in a team environment
•A dependable, insured car
