Public Affairs Officer

Stroke Association

Location: London

Salary: £29,299

Job Details

The Public Affairs Officer role delivers the majority of the Stroke Association’s political engagement and wider public affairs activity. The role sits within our small, dynamic and impactful Policy & Influencing team, in the Marketing & External Affairs directorate. Working closely with the Head of Policy & Public Affairs and team colleagues, you will be instrumental in delivering effective public affairs activities in Westminster and across the UK, designed to affect change at a national level to improve the lives of those affected by stroke.

You’ll plan, deliver and evaluate public affairs activity, including building and maintaining good relationships with key stakeholders in Parliament, NHS England and elsewhere to build our capacity to effectively influence. You will support the delivery of the National Stroke Programme for England and the aims of the NHS Long Term Plan, which may include meeting with parliamentarians, organising parliamentary events and representing the Stroke Association at external events.

You will also provide expert public affairs advice to colleagues across the organisation, embedding influencing skills and ensuring that colleagues are well briefed and supported to deliver their own influencing activity. Through effective monitoring and horizon scanning, you will advise team members and colleagues across the organisation on the external political environment relevant to the Stroke Association’s influencing priorities.

You will have experience of public affairs and be enthusiastic about rebuilding the lives of people affected by stroke across the UK through national policy change. You will thrive in a busy working environment, learning and developing new skills whilst delivering on the Policy & Influencing team’s plans and objectives.

This is a fixed term position until May 2020.

Closing Date: 2 June 2019
