- Deputy Director, Women's Rights Initiative, USA
Location: Washington, District of Columbia, United States
American Bridge 21st Century, a progressive research and communications organization, is seeking a Deputy Director to develop and grow its Women’s Rights Initiative.
Work with the Senior Director to maintain and grow relationships with women’s health and politics reporters in Washington, D.C. and nationally
Draft and edit press releases and other written materials
Assist in research on issues related to women’s health and rights
Seek out strategic opportunities for rapid response and creative, out-of-the-box ideas for engagement
Develop and conceptualize ideas for long-term, programmatic social media engagement
Brainstorm and work collaboratively with digital and communications teams to present messages in a unique and interesting way
Develop social networks and message platforms
Work closely with American Bridge’s video team to create innovative and communicative content
Some administrative and programmatic management
Qualifications and Requirements:
4-5 years’ experience in communications with a background and/or demonstrated interest in women’s rights
Demonstrated experience and success with pitching media, specifically content related to gender
Strong written and verbal communication skills and political instincts
Some background in research preferred, political or academic
Track record of creativity, initiative, and ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
A knack for distilling complicated research and information into easily digestible and shareable content
Attention to detail – strong appreciation for grammar
Familiarity with social media management and tools
Experience with graphic design products a plus
