Who we are looking for:

 

We are looking for a high performing Government Relations Coordinator with at least 2-3 years of related work experience to join our Policy and Advocacy department. The selected candidate will support the Advocacy division, and specifically the work of the Government Relations Committee and the ASCO work for the AMA House of Delegates.

What you will do:

Support ASCO’s work with the American Medical Association House of Delegates, including scheduling and providing support for Cancer Caucus meetings, submitting delegate credentials, providing logistical support for ASCO delegates, coordinating responses to hundreds of subject matter related resolutions and processing expenses

Coordinate operations of the Government Relations Committee including day to day communication, coordination of multiple meeting days on Capitol Hill and with the federal agencies, meeting agenda development and logistics, expense processing, e-binder development and slide creation

Support Advocacy events on Capitol Hill including multiple Hill days and congressional briefings

Schedule annual GRC agency meeting day including logistics, meeting requests, and materials creation

Schedule bi-weekly GRC leadership calls and manage tracking sheet

Work with Division Director, GSAR staff and committee staff in the coordination of policy priorities

 

What you will need in order to be successful:          

 

College degree in political science or a related field

At least 2-3 years of related work experience

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Strong interest and/or familiarity with government relations work

Excellent communications skills including oral, written, and listening

Excellent organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities

Commitment to work within a team to meet timelines and deliverables with a strong focus on customer service

Ideal candidates will also contribute:

Previous work experience in public policy or government relations in an association or professional environment

Prior experience working on Capitol Hill
