Summary:

The Government Relations Legal Intern supports the government relations department by conducting research and producing various written materials concerning community banking topics and issues. This is a part-time internship scheduled for 15 hours per week.

Duties & Responsibilities:

    Research and develop legal arguments and concepts relating to community bank issues
    Research and draft position papers and memoranda on various community bank topics
    Research and summarize various rulemakings, case law and legal developments for use in comment letters
    Compile and summarize banker feedback on priority issues
    Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

    Law student who has completed first year (or will complete first year by Spring, 2019) of an accredited law school;
    Excellent writing and research skills;
    Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, co-workers, and external parties;
    Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills;
    Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and be flexible;
    Ability to work with limited supervision; and
    Proficient with legal research databases such as LexisNexis® or Westlaw®, as well as the Internet.
    Knowledge of banking a plus, but not required.
