NIAC Hiring Research Associate
The Trump Administration has violated the Iran nuclear deal and once again set the United States and Iran on a collision course. With a plan for economic warfare being set in motion, the risk of a war escalating dangerously and political turmoil in Iran, the need for quality, balanced analysis of Iranian politics and society in Washington, DC has never been higher. The National Iranian American Council, the nation’s largest grassroots Iranian-American organization, is seeking to hire a Research Associate to help increase public and policymakers’ understanding of these complex issues in support of peaceful solutions to the growing conflict. This position reports to the Policy Director.


Research and provide clear and concise analysis on political, economic, security, and social issues related to Iran, U.S.-Iran relations, and Iran’s relations with other actors around the world;
Develop networks of contacts in government, outside experts, and international stakeholders;
Write detailed reports and shorter products such as briefing memos, op-eds, and one pagers setting out relevant research findings and policy recommendations on key issues;
Conduct English and Persian language broadcast interviews and provide timely analysis to print media;
Monitor Persian/Farsi sources and translate products of the policy team;
Present balanced and accurate portrayals of events in Iran and U.S.-Iran relations at forums, panels, briefings, and individual meetings;
Propose policy initiatives for governmental, intergovernmental, political, and nongovernmental stakeholders to address and resolve sources of conflict;
Provides general support to NIAC’s Policy team and support organizational efforts to educate on relevant issues;
Build active connections and collaboration with partner organizations and experts to advance NIAC’s goals;


Master’s degree in International Relations or related field
Outstanding understanding of political drivers and the foreign policy-making process in the U.S. and Iran, as well as the inner workings of Congress
Persian/Farsi language fluency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Aptitude and drive for coalition building
Strong understanding of conflict dynamics and peace building issues
Commitment to advancing NIAC’s goals and mission
