National Political & Organizing Director
The Democratic National Committee
The National Political & Organizing Director develops and manages the DNC's electoral strategies, organizing priorities, and national engagement programs. The National Political & Organizing Director manages a number of relationships, including but not limited to: state, local and federal electeds; national grass tops stakeholders and grassroots leaders; partner organizations; candidates and campaigns; state parties; and DNC members. With goals of coordination, partnership, and validation, this position works closely with key national allies, including party leaders, democratic committees, labor unions, constituency and community groups, local and state community organizations and coalitions, and the DNC caucuses and councils. As part of the senior leadership team, the National Political & Organizing Director will work hand in hand with members of the DNC senior staff and Chair's office to support the programmatic and organizational priorities, to collectively advance the DNC’s mission and party values, and oversee the engagement and political investment strategy for the DNC and its principals. The National Political & Organizing Director reports directly to the CEO.
Provide the primary strategic direction and oversight for the Political and Organizing Department priorities, programs and investments.
Manage a comprehensive strategy that incorporates all democratic constituencies through effective grassroots base-building and issue work at both the local and national levels.
Manage, supervise, develop and evaluate the political and organizing staff.
Work with state parties, campaigns, partner organizations, and also grassroots, labor and political leaders throughout the country.
Track the national landscape related to electoral organizing and the evolution of the progressive ecosystem.
Monitor demographic and political trends related to voting, civic participation, and engagement.
Work with other departments to increase visibility for the DNC’s political and organizing priorities and accomplishments, including press-related activities.
Represent the DNC in speaking engagements, serve as a spokesperson for the DNC with media, and prepare the Chairman, CEO and other principals.
Advance the use of electoral tools and strategies in the context of effective political organization strategy.
Superior experience in electoral work including at least 7-10 years developing, managing, and implementing electoral strategies for significant campaigns.
Demonstrated experience managing a staff and program.
Strong background in and understanding of community organizing, with a demonstrated ability to relate to grassroots community organizations and volunteer grassroots members and leaders.
Strong commitment and passion to Democratic principles.
Solid knowledge of and experience with national, state and local organizational leadership engaged in electoral strategies and programs.
Strong understanding and experience with key electoral tools and technologies, including voter lists and data management.
Strong understanding of legal parameters for electoral organizing.
Experience in managing staff and developing the skills and leadership of staff.
Significant experience in program planning and budget development and management.
Broad strategic vision that encompasses base-building, coalition-building, public policy, communications, electoral organizing, and collective action.
Strong team-building, facilitation, and coalition-building skills.
Excellent oral communication, public speaking, and writing skills.
Experience and comfort working in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment.

This is a full-time employment position based in Washington, DC, though travel will be expected.
