Salary: £27,000 - £31,000
VisitBritain/VisitEngland is the UK's Tourism Agency, supporting the UK Government in the development of tourism policy and marketing Britain overseas. Tourism is currently worth £127bn to the UK economy, and supports 3m jobs across every single local authority.
Tourism Affairs is the policy and engagement department within VisitBritain/VisitEngland and works directly with our sponsor agency, DCMS and other departments across Whitehall.
This role will involve the preparation of briefings for DCMS, VisitBritain/VisitEngland directors and support in overall engagement across parliament, devolved parliaments and assemblies and with the wider tourism industry. The role will work on both inbound and domestic tourism, and will be split equally betweent the two.
The key competences will include:
Briefings for key events in parliament, overseas and at national conferences
Engagement with MPs, MSPS, AMs and other elected officials to discuss tourism policy
Working to prepare key policy work, including supporting the development of a Tourism Sector Deal in the Government's Industrial Strategy
Monitoring policy in fields which support tourism and other areas across the UK
Monitoring activity in parliament and other institutions on areas impacting on tourism
The role is based in VisitBritain/VisitEngland's offices at 1 Victoria St, London. There will be occasional travel.
