Summer 2018 Legal Internships

Dēmos is accepting applications for legal internships for the summer of 2018. We will hire up to two legal interns to work with staff on voting rights and economic justice litigation, advocacy and research. Legal Interns can expect to receive substantive assignments in the areas of freedom to vote, money in politics, racial equity and/or economic justice. Dēmos is committed to providing Legal Interns with an educational experience, and our summer program includes mid-semester reviews and close supervision by staff attorneys to ensure interns receive instruction and feedback. Intern will work in the New York office of Dēmos.

Students not receiving grant funding or credit are eligible for a paid internship at a rate of $15/ hour.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Legal research and writing;
Policy and legislative analysis and drafting;
Assistance with our litigation in trial and appellate courts; and
Other duties, as assigned.


Legal interns must have completed at least one year of law school. We seek highly motivated candidates with a passion for our issues and a strong commitment to excellence in research, writing and analysis. The ideal candidate will be interested in expanding their analysis and knowledge about the role that racial inequity plays in our society, and must be committed to building and/or deepening their commitment to racial justice work. Background and expertise in voting rights, electoral reform or racial equity is a strong plus but not required.
